Fani
Effete, hyperliterary, overurbanized, tribalistic, precious...and unlistenable. Another example of an otherwise respectable artist letting their internal bullshit meter get so far out of calibration as to be incapable of distinguishing a work of deep universal experience from an idiosyncratic and private one. City Reading is exactly the kind of work the likes of Robert Christgau would apoplectically praise, using his ready collection of SAT words to simultaneously declare any dissenters categorical idiots, and evade all account of why the piece has objective merit.

A bit of a disappointing release by AIR, that can only (or truly?) be appreciated by Italian-speaking audience. I only wish I had red the reviews before I purchase this, because the title itself (City Reading) can be very misleading. The voice of narrator, although speaking in language unknown to me (Italian), is pleasant, someplace even rhythmic, but is too loud and the music if toned down in the background. Although there is translation in the booklet of the text/book he is reading through, I found it hard to concentrate on it, or even to try to read along with the narrator. With all said, I doubt I will (try to) listen to it again, as it have little or no replying value at all. Had it been in English, it may had.
