This is boutique metal. An abomination created by hipsters. I don't like boutique metal. They play well and the production is solid. The blend of hipster indie rock chord progressions done ala black metal, to me , is just plain weird and I hope it dies off soon.

Come off it, dude. This is great music. There's nothing hip about it.
Mavegelv
You must be a fanboy of the Norwegian Kvlt basement black metal if you don't like this.
Bad Sunny
I use to hate shit like this as well, but as you said it might take some time to get into.
Doukree
More traditional black metal. To consider this anything other than boutique metal is to me crazy. In 10 or 20 years i may find a broader appreciation for this "style" but only time will tell. Like i said it's ok....i won't be buying any more from them unless the literally dwell amongst the top ten lists of more than one year in a row. There are other bands that fall under this header but i'm more aware of their sound and therefore do not buy. Great players, poor application.
